Innistrad Hold the Line Event Decks

Hold the Line:
  • Low-cost creatures like Elite Vanguard and Champion of the Parish to pressure your opponent starting from the first turn, then suit up your creatures with Equipment to maintain your advantage into the midgame.
  • It gives you plenty of ways to overcome opposing creatures. Being able to tap enemy creatures with Gideon's Lawkeeper and then sneak some damage through, or exile enemy creatures with Oblivion Ring and Fiend Hunter to clear potential blockers out of the way.
  • Bonds of Faith is another fun removal spell. If your opponent doesn't have any creatures, though, you can always cast Bonds of Faith on one of your own creatures.

After sideboarding, you have access to answers for specific threats. Get rid of problematic red or black permanents with Celestial Purge. Use Nihil Spellbomb to end any graveyard-based shenanigans. Call on Suture Priest for a hefty life drain against creature-based decks. Blow up annoying artifacts and enchantments with Leonin Relic-Warder. Lastly, prevent problem cards from being played entirely with Nevermore!

There are multiple ways you could alter the deck to suit your own playing style. You could make the deck even more aggressive with more cards like Champion of the Parish and Elite Inquisitor. Alternatively, you could "go bigger" with larger if slightly slower creatures. Hero of Bladehold brings along an army whenever it attacks, and Mikaeus, the Lunarch can add +1/+1 counters to build that army to colossal size.

It's your choice if you choose to Hold The Line!

Effect Veiler

Effect Veiler
During your opponent's Main Phase, you can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard to select 1 face-up Effect Monster your opponent controls. Negate the effect(s) of that monster until the End Phase.

This card is very useful in this format due to the countless incidents of play ability. You can literally use it on anything your opponent throws at you whether its against Agent Deck's, or Samurai Deck's this is a must for any competitive player. Its also a level 1 tuner to help synchro those awesome cards in your Extra Deck. As well as being a Light target for Black Luster Soldier- Envoy of the Beginning.

This card comes in 3 Rarities: Ultimate Rare, Ultra Rare and just normal Rare. There is a lot of value if your think about obtaining one of these due to sheer usefulness and if you go Ultimate then prettiness as well. I feel every duelist should either main this or side, it is a must have.

Magic: The Gathering Innistrad Launch Party

On Saturday October 1st, 2011, Magic: The Gathering held an Launch Party event at local stores around the world for their newest set in Magic history, Innistrad. With the launch of this set meant that players and collectors could officially purchase Innistrad Pre-Constructed Decks, Booster Packs and Fat Packs. At the Launch Party I attended at my local (Teddy'n'Me located at South Common Mall, Mississauga, Ontario) I was introduced to Innistrad for the 1st time. I was able to pull the Garruk Relentless, one of the Planeswalkers and Mythic Rares from set as well as Army of the Damned which helped me greatly in the sealed tournament with a score of 2 Wins and 0 Loses every round I was in.

Players that attended the launch party received 6 packs of Innistrad to make a 40 card seal Deck consisting only of the cards they get from their 6 packs. As a special promotion to all participants, attendees also receive 1 Ludevic’s Test Subject/Ludevic’s Abomination promo.

What is a Launch Party:
Launch Parties provide a venue for you to buy the new release of Magic cards as soon as they’re available and play right away with other players in your local area. Run in local game and hobby stores around the world the weekend the new set is available in stores, Launch Parties are low-key introductions to the cards and a great way to meet new players.

Formats are varied at Launch Parties, including Sealed Deck and Booster Draft. In Sealed Deck, you build your deck out of a set number of cards given to you at the start of the event. A Booster Draft involves selecting cards from a larger pool of players, usually eight, and then building your deck out of the cards you draft.

If you enjoyed playing at a Launch Party, you should look into playing at the next Prerelease Event, along with Friday Night Magic.

Schedule

Launch Parties are held at local retail stores the first weekend a new card set is available for purchase. The events usually consist of 15-30 players at each location.

Prizes

Unique prizes created just for this Launch Party are awarded to top players. Special commemorative foil cards and are given to each participant while supplies last. Additional prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the event organizers.

  • Play with the new cards as soon as they’re available!

  • Take home an exclusive promo card!

-$30 was the admit fee, it started at 11:00 am on Saturday September 24th
-Each admit came with six packs of the brand-new "Innistrad" set for the Magic the Gathering Trading Card Game, as well as an exclusive alternate art "Mayor of Avabruck/Howlpack Alpha" Transforming card from the set.

- Players had to use the contents of the six packs to build a 40-card deck to play in a Swiss-style tournament.

-Additional prize support was dependent on the number of entries received, but every player was able to leave with AT LEAST one additional pack of "Innistrad", just for playing!

Many players enjoyed being one of the first people around the city to be able to try these new cards with vampires, zombies, and werewolves from the newest Magic: The Gathering set: Innistrad.

At the end of the day everyone who came loved the new cards that gave a new twist to the game and the format.
